Journalist, writer, researcher
Pau Torres Pagès is a writer, reporter, and researcher, currently pursuing an MA in Journalism and International Relations at New York University.
Before arriving in New York, he was a general assignment radio reporter at RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television Corporation) and led a segment on global affairs. His first stint as a journalist was at Diari de Barcelona, where he authored over 80 pieces covering international, politics, culture, and social affairs. He was the special envoy of the outlet at COP26, which took place in Glasgow. He has also published in several newspapers and magazines like PassBlue, CTXT Magazine, CooperSquared, Diari Ara, Diari de Barcelona, Núvol, EUFactcheck… and has recorded a radio series that aired at La Xarxa (Catalan Local Media Association).
He was part of the fact-checking team in Verificat during the 2024 EU Parliament Elections, for which the outlet received the Catalan Association of European Journalists Award (Honors Mention).
He has experience in International Communications, having been both a trainee at the Radio Service of the European Parliament and an intern at the United Nations Development Programme‘s Digital Communications Studio. During his stay at the European Institutions in Luxembourg, he produced podcasts in the 24 official languages of the Union and was elected General Coordinator of the Schuman Traineeship Committee, representing over 100 trainees from more than 20 nationalities. At the UN, he created social media and editorial content in English and Spanish to spread awareness of the importance of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
Pau holds a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Law from Pompeu Fabra University, where he achieved 14 honours mentions and was the Student Representative for the School of Communications. He spent a semester at the University of Stirling (Scotland) where he focused on film analysis and academic research in the field of communication. He is currently a Research Assistant at NYU’s Center for Social Media and Politics and has also worked at the Research Institute of Communications and International Affairs of Blanquerna-University Ramon Llull.
Pau also focuses on cultural criticism and reporting, having co-created the award-winning podcast Canvi de Pla, with over 75 episodes and 4 seasons that follow the year’s main movie awards. He was a member of the Youth Jury at the Serielizados Fest 2020 and the Theatre Group at the University Pompeu Fabra.
